Muncie Alliance Internship: Living

Living in community is core value of the internship. W e seek for the internship to be a holistic experience, learning not just in the classroom but in our lives together. To this end, as well as to reduce living expenses over the two year duration, housing is provided for interns whenever possible. Currently we have two housing options for our single interns: the MAC Parsonage is the dwelling place of our women interns, and the Tozer house in downtown Muncie, is the dwelling place for our intern men. Depending on availability of space and each person's unique circumstances, not all interns live in the church-owned housing but all are encouraged to live in community.

We seek to daily live out our values of Dependence, Prayer, Celebration, Community, Honesty, Humility, Freedom, Simplicity, Hospitality, and Rest. Living and working together and openly sharing our lives is an aspect of the internship that's proven to be one of the most rewarding and memorable ones. We hope to instill these values deeply within us to last well beyond our time in the internship. (For a description of each of these values, you can download them here)

MAC intern “alumni” have gone on to do such diverse work as living with the poor in Nepal, teaching visual arts at Taylor University, caring for persons with mental disabilities, managing a cafe-restaurant from startup through its first year, leading Bible studies in a juvenile correctional facility, starting a women's ministry and women's Bible studies in the church body, creating music that both builds community and glorifies God (we've been blessed with many gifted musicians, singers and songwriters), working in the Muncie community as head of public relations for the Muncie Public Library, forming an intentional community to move to Seattle and live in intentional community (i.e. a group of people committed to life together), roasting coffee for a leading artisan coffee roaster (Zoka in Seattle, WA), planting a church in a coffee house setting in downtown Indianapolis, pursuing a college degree and Chinese language acquisition for future cross-cultural mission work ... The options are vast and varied, as we believe that God has created us uniquely and that He has entrusted to each of us a special ministry.

Thanks again for your interest in who we are and what God’s doing among us. We welcome your prayers!
